State Licensing
To get a State of Iowa Journeyman License
1. Fill out the application for a State of Iowa Journeyman License along with a letter requesting to be sponsored for the test.
2. Once the State receives your application, they will send you your confirmation letter and sponsorship information to provide to Prometric. You then contact Prometric at (888) 897-2046 to schedule your test. The test can be taken any time 7:00 am to 7:00 pm, Monday through Saturday at the Prometric Test Center located at 4601 Westown Parkway, Ste. 119, West Des Moines, IA 50266. The fee to test is $70.00.
3. Once you receive your test results from Prometric, you can send them into the State along with a check for $75.00 to receive your State of Iowa A license. The license is good for three (3) years.

To get a State of Iowa Residential License
1. To qualify for a State of Iowa Residential license you must have 4 years experience in the trade, or two years experience in the trade and a passing test score on the Prometric exam.
2. Submit the application for the special license (residential)
State of Iowa License along with a check for $75.00 and submit it to
the State of Iowa.
