6. Surviving Spouse Coverage. If a member should die while covered under the health plan, his/her surviving spouse maintains coverage until the dollar bank has been exhausted; then they receive an additional year of coverage at no expense.
7. Retirement Coverage. The Plan pays 20% of the premium for retired members. Retirees do not have to fear that they will be dropped by the insurance company--they are guaranteed coverage.
8. Our plan accepts all members and their family members without question, regardless of a preexisting condition.
9. If you have a complaint, you have a sounding board - the Trustees of the Plan. You don't have to go through Principal if you were wrongfully denied coverage and you cannot get satisfaction.
In short:
If you take a look at the whole picture, the Plan offers many benefits that other Plans would not even consider. This does not mean that improvements cannot be made; but we have come a long way in terms of protection. Check out the benefits and the costs of other plans; if you find something better, the Trustees will be happy to take a look at it. We are always trying to improve member benefits.
